How to Look Slimmer

Written by Erica Paredes

Women of all shapes and sizes have one common denominator... they all wonder how to look slimmer, all the time. Yes, even your vegan-yogi neighbor is probably trying to figure out how to look slimmer. Your 60 year old mother and her friends are all trying to look slimmer.

Women of all shapes and sizes have one common denominator... they all wonder how to look slimmer, all the time. Yes, even your vegan-yogi neighbor is probably trying to figure out how to look slimmer. Your 60 year old mother and her friends are all trying to look slimmer. While healthy eating and regular exercise are your primary weapons in the battle of the bulge, make-up can play a significant role as icing on the cake. Here's how:

Make sure your foundation matches your skin exactly. Aside from too-white base looking unflattering, remember that darker hues make things seem smaller, and lighter colors make things bigger-including your face!

Opt for a non-shimmer bronzer to lightly contour your face. The keyword here is lightly! Shimmer will make you look bigger so use a matte bronzer to create the illusion of a smaller face. Simply run the bronzer across your forehead and on your jawline with a brush and remember to blend well.

If your eyes are close together, create a wider set eye, which also creates the illusion of a slimmer face. Extend your eyeliner a little bit on the outer corners for wider set eyes.

Draw attention to your lips with a bright colored mouth. Loud colored lip color will draw attention away from a chubby face by allowing people to focus on your lovely mouth.

Avoid using shimmer on your eyes or your cheeks. Shimmer reflects light, and this will crate the illusion of a bigger face. Stick to matte eye shadows and blushes. If you really can't stand the matte look, go for gels instead, but never with shimmer or glitter.

Don't underestimate the power of nice eyebrows. Pick a style that flatters your face and arched eyebrows look great on round or heart-shaped faces.
